Doubly Clad Fiber

Optical Fiber that exhibits wide Transmission Bandwidth and low bending Loss to reduction of guided Modes as a result of the high-refractive index external Cladding and the tight confinement within the Core regions.

Doubly clad fiber is a single Mode fiber that has two cladding layers. These layers are of a different Refractive Index then that of the core of the fiber. The inner Layer of cladding has the lowest refractive index. Doubly clad fiber results in a very low Microbending loss.
