Splitter
A passive device which divides Optical Power among several output fibers from a common input.
A Fiber optic splitter is the simplest form of a coupler. A Coupler is an optical device for distributing optical power among two or more ports or for Coupling optical power between a Waveguide and a Source or detector, and thus is sometimes interchangeable with a connector.
Splitters are used to split Light from one fiber into two or more fibers with low Excess Loss and low backreflection.
