A Spotlight on Shipping at Timbercon

Name: Michael Wilson

Title: Inventory Control Supervisor

Years at Timbercon: 5 years

Mike started at Timbercon in 2017 as an assembler, and has grown with the company over the years. He spent time as a line lead before moving into the shipping department. Now, Mike is the inventory control supervisor.

In his time at TImbercon, Mike has learned a lot about the products and the industries we serve. However, all the interesting things we do would be nothing without our employees and Mike’s teammates. “The thing I like the most about Timbercon is definitely the people,” he said. “The technology is pretty cool, and we make some really awesome products that are used in some really amazing applications, but the people are what I really like here. Lots of cultural diversity, from all walks of life and all backgrounds. I have learned to say a few words and phrases in Vietnamese, Russian, Spanish, and even a little Polish.”

Each day, Mike gets to work to plan out the day. He works with a lot of people throughout the day, making sure the shipping gets done and assisting with cutting fiber and kitting orders.

With everything he’s learned and all of the roles he has held at Timbercon, he loves to help support his colleagues and people just getting into the world of fiber optics. “My advice for anyone wanting to get into fiber optics, whether it be as an assembler or in materials, would be to be patient, take lots of notes, don’t try to take on too much at once, and ask lots of questions,” Mike said.

For support with custom fiber optic solutions, reach out to Timbercon to learn how we can help you with your next application.
