Timbercon Announces New Capabilities at OFC 2017

03/02/2017

Timbercon is expanding its R&D, production, and testing capabilities to include Custom Fiber Tips (CFTs). The new AFL LZM-100 LaserMaster and an on-site cleanroom will enable Timbercon to build high-purity glass optical components like ball and rod lenses, prisms, and tapers fused directly to fibers. Armed with these new technologies, Timbercon will have much greater market capabilities in laser delivery systems, biomedical fiber probes, and one-of-a-kind splicing.

Timbercon is also introducing the new SFP28 electrical loopback. With the same form factor as the SFP/SFP+, the SFP 28 supports up to 28Gbps of data transfer and can be programmed with a custom memory map.

OFC 2017 was the location of this large-scale announcement for these new offerings from Timbercon. Booth 2833 was where VP of Sales and Marketing Kip Nix displayed many of the custom fiber tips using a microscope and monitor. Business Development Manager Greg Nelsen was on hand to discuss the SFP28 and the benefits it offers.

Stay tuned for more new developments from Timbercon soon!
