Timbercon Announces its New Website for 2010
Timbercon, Inc., a leader in fiber optic manufacturing and assembly has unveiled its new website in conjunction with OFC/NFOEC which is the largest fiber optic conference in North America. It can be found at www.timbercon.com.
Since Timbercon’s inception in 1997, we have had a website supplying application information to our customers and it has become an invaluable education resource about the fiber optic technology. Over the past year Timbercon has undergone an initiative to refresh and update this valuable tool.
To accomplish these changes efficiently we determined that a CMS system would give us the capabilities to quickly deploy the most up-to-date information to our customers. “Choosing a CMS was no easy task.” stated Shea Ivey, Webmaster for Timbercon. “We looked into many systems such as Joomla! and Drupal, however we ultimately decided on SilverStripe because of its MVC (Model-View-Controller) approach.” The MVC approach allows developers and designers the freedom to separate templates from code in an intuitive manner and combine them cohesively, allowing content editors to maintain future updates and additions.
Timbercon’s website now contains over 10,000 pages of CMS driven content. “Editing these pages has never been easier” says Mr. Ivey, “What used to take a day to update in the past now takes a few minutes and ensures consistency throughout the site.”
Rachel Burand, Web Design Intern, agrees, stating, “The CMS is very intuitive and user-friendly. Now, more time can be devoted to visual design and keeping content accurate and up-to-date.”
The new timbercon.com website is immediately available to the public. It includes updated information on products and services with 100s of new application photos. Timbercon will be continually adding features and technical information to the web site. We will appreciate any comments about the website or suggestions for future content.
