Dynamic Range

(1) In a Transmission system, the ratio of the overload level to the Noise level of the system, usually expressed in decibels. The ratio of the specified maximum level of a parameter (e.g., power, voltage, frequency, or floating point number representation) to its minimum detectable or positive value, usually expressed in decibels. (2) The Range between the maximum and minimum amount of input radiant Energy that an instrument can measure.
