Splitter

A fiber optic splitter is the simplest form of a coupler. A coupler is an optical device for distributing optical power among two or more ports or for coupling optical power between a waveguide and a source or detector, and thus is sometimes interchangeable with a connector.

Splitters are used to split light from one fiber into two or more fibers with low excess loss and low backreflection.
