Timbercon Announces the New PRIZM® LightTurn® Cable Assemblies

03/06/2012

Timbercon, Inc., a fiber optics product and solutions manufacturing company, announced today at the OFC/NFOEC tradeshow in Los Angeles, California, the availability of PRIZM® LightTurn® cable assemblies. The US Conec Ltd.’s PRIZM® LightTurn® is a right angle connector that interfaces with the Avago MicroPOD™, MiniPOD™ and other high density transceivers.

The PRIZM® LightTurn® 12-fiber connector consists of a multi-fiber floating ferrule with a photonic TIR lens enclosed in a protective housing. The unique perpendicular mating capability increases real-estate opportunities on dense printed circuit boards by improving cable management and allowing for tight spacing of transceiver modules internal to the board rather than using very limited and in high demand parallel edge-mount solutions. It enables an easy, low cost termination that requires no polishing of fibers and easy testing. The cable assembly will connect PRIZM® to the MTP®.

“With our termination and cable assembly expertise, combined with US Conec’s unique PRIZM® LightTurn® connector, Timbercon is able to offer another customizable solution to meet high density applications,” said John Lee, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “PRIZM® LightTurn® cable assemblies are already being used in networking, supercomputers and military harsh environment applications.”

The PRIZM® LightTurn® cable assemblies are now being displayed at OFC/NFOEC, March 6-8, 2012 in Los Angeles, California in booth #1747.

PRIZM LightTurn and MTP are registered trademarks of US Conec Ltd. MicroPOD and MiniPOD are trademarks of Avago.
