Process/Manufacturing Engineer Jr

Responsible for the research and specification of materials and process required for various designs in coordination with senior engineering staff; Perform root cause analysis of materials, chemical/mechanical processing and corrosion related problems and recommend solutions; Provide recommendations for material, finishes and manufacturing process improvements; Conduct new material or process testing and trial run as required; Create and change specifications or procedures as required based on customer requirement, process improvement or encountered problem; Review and provide status of compliance of materials used in the design in accordance with standards.


General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining the Quality Documentation Control system and associated databases. 
  • Perform analysis on raw data, searching for trends on non-conformances, failures and initiate corrective action, and follow up with proper closure to all CARs generated in the factory.
  • Assist the quality team to ensure all functions are performed as needed.
  • Plan and create instructions for shop routings/manufacturing process.
    Responsible for incorporating job quality requirements, engineering standards, and other processes into shop routings.
    Defines manufacturing sequence while maintaining design integrity on a cost effective manner.
  • Support new and existing hardware designs.
  • Write test plans based on specific product specifications.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and identify root cause failure analysis on identified systems. Drive issues to closure with preventive measures.
  • Monitor test capacity and yields.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, operation sheets and environmental standards
  • Knowledge to create reports using Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Project
  • Specification and Procedure writing capability; Some knowledge of part fabrication and machining operations.
  • Must also be able to organize and prioritize tasks, and have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressured team environment with frequent changes in priorities and assignments.
  • Experience with Lean, manufacturing quality systems, configuration controls and/or calibration requirements is a plus.
  • BS/MS in optical, mechanical, electrical or other engineering discipline.
  • Ability to communicate manufacturing test requirements into design layout requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
