Manufacturing Development Manager

Reporting to: VP of Operations
General Responsibilities:
· Plan, prioritize, and direct all Pilot Line and Process Engineering activities.
· Establish and implement strategic plan for ongoing development of the Pilot Line.
· Provide mentoring to personnel in formal Process Engineering methodologies.
· Ensure all Process Engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with Timbercon’s established policies, procedures, and objectives.
· Develop and maintain quarterly and annual departmental budget.
· Develop annual and quarterly plans in line with company planning cycles.
· Staff, train, discipline and provide leadership to Process Engineering team and Pilot Line personnel.
· Provide career guidance to Manufacturing Development personnel, to include: performance reviews, professional development, and
· Perform Process Engineering activities as necessary.
· Analyze key process metrics and other data to ensure the implementation of continuous improvement and institute process control and discipline.
· Oversees the selection and qualification of capital equipment.
· Accountable for development, evaluation, documentation, and improvement of manufacturing methods.
· Utilize knowledge of product design, materials, production process, equipment, and quality control methods to optimize the efficiency of the production system and quality of Timbercon products.
· Support processes in the production of existing products, as well as ensure the manufacturability of new products transitioning to production.
· Assigns tasks and projects, and monitors performance to goals. This includes setting objectives for both the department and individual team members.
· Analyzes manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancement of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
· Develops, evaluates, documents and improves manufacturing processes to meet our quality, cost, cycle-time and safety goals.
· Collaborates with design engineering through a stage gate product development process to launch new products on-time and on budget.
· Provides production floor and assembly support in technical matters related to interpretation of engineering documentation, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), rework, manufacturing difficulties and specification, and implementation of training on new processes.
· Provides engineering support for the assigned production departments to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. Reaches out to the manufacturing team as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
· B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
· 5-10 years work experience with 2-3 years as practicing Process Engineer and 2-3 years in management.
· Project Management.
· Lean Manufacturing experience.
· ISO/AS9100 experience.
· Understanding of statistical methodologies (SPC, DOE, descriptive statistics).
· Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, prioritize based on impact to financial performance of the business, and drive solutions.
· Capability to perfrom all General Responsibilities, Skills, and Qualifications as defined in the Timbercon Process Engineer job description.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
· Clear understanding of fiber optic technologies.
· Highly results oriented.
· Proven track record of successful people management.
· Computer literate with experience in using MS Office products.
