Fiber Optic Assembler

Fiber Optic Assembler 1 is an entry-level assembly position. This position is part-time with hours varying depending on departmental need.


General Responsibilities

  • Assemble products with supervision per process detail
  • Maintain a minimum standard quota (time and/or piece count) for a given job assignment
  • Maintain total quality assurance
  • Obtain intermediate level understanding of the names of tools used in general assembly and their use
  • Obtain beginner level component identification and application understanding
  • Assist Engineering with special projects and new product/process implementation
  • Comply with all safety recommendations and requirements
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
  • Comply with all time and attendance policies
  • Assist Production Manager with special projects as required

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to read/comprehend, write, and communicate orally in English
  • Ability to reason and analyze
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)

Other Requirements

  • Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, squat, sit, stand, walk, use fine finger movement (manual dexterity), and handle objects. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull and reach above shoulder level. The employee must be able to carry/lift 25 pounds.
  • Environmental: On the job the employee may encounter temperature variations (cold/hot/climate changes), chemical agents, and have contact with water/liquids. Moderate to loud noise level is typical for the work environment for this job.
